K11 allowed us to film inthe beautiful city of Venice to feature mask maker, Davide Belloni. Davide, started Ca’Macana in 1984. A young architecture student at the University of Venice, Davide, began making and illegally selling traditional Venetian masks on the streets.
Davide is now the proud owner of one of the most popular and traditional mask making workshops of the city. Our film not only aims to capture the stunning process of mask making but also tries to offer a view of the mysterious Venice. A city built on water, made up of canals and bridges with hidden passageways which lead to little known streets away from the touristic bubble that everyone already knows.
We wanted to capture true venetians and their daily lives drawing a parallel about what is real and what is hiding behind a mask.
